CEO: Tim Livesey*

I joined Embrace in July 2017 from Oxfam. I had previously worked in government – nearly twenty years in the Foreign Office – in politics and as an adviser to Rowan Williams when he was Archbishop of Canterbury and Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor when he was Archbishop of Westminster. I worked for a couple of years in Downing Street and for four years ran the UK’s development programme in Nigeria.

It’s a real privilege to be part of a very talented and dedicated team here at Embrace working in support of Christian partners in the Middle East to improve the lives and livelihoods of some of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in the region.

Human Resources Manager: Lucy Insua*

My role is to support the wonderfully, talented and committed employees of Embrace. I am part of the Senior Leadership Team and have strategic oversight of our people agenda, making sure our current (and future) staff are supported, appreciated, informed and challenged so that together we can continue our Christian mission to bring healing and hope and improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people in the Middle East.

I have 20 years HR experience from both the charity and commercial sectors. I am proud to work for an organisation built on it’s deep rooted Christian values of respect, accountability, compassion, excellence and integrity. It really couldn’t get any better.

If you are looking for a new job or want to explore the opportunity of working for a Christian charity where you can make a difference and transform the lives of marginalised people in the Middle East, then I’d love to hear from you. Visit our Vacancies page.

Office Manager / Executive Team Assistant: Sharon Mason

I joined Embrace in January 2018, having come from a background in the Television industry.  My role at Embrace is to ensure the smooth running of the office (from making sure we don’t run out of tea, to making sure the post goes out on time), to support the CEO and HR manager, and to manage general office health and safety. My previous job, working for the University of Westminster, as a TV Studio Manager and Technician, involved teaching students TV production skills, being a lighting director, technical rigger and multi-skilled studio operator.

In my spare time, I love cooking and comedy writing, and have a keen interest in ancient civilisations.

Fundraising and Marketing

Director of Fundraising and Marketing : Nigel Varndell*

I joined Embrace following five years as Director of Church and Community Participation at The Children’s Society. Before that I worked for Christian Aid. Embrace's commitment to support local partners and raise the profile of the Middle East in the life and prayers of UK churches is inspiring and something to which I am delighted to be able to contribute.

Events Coordinator: Kerensa McCollough

I have worked in various roles for Embrace from overseeing Embrace Christmas which focused on our famous Bethlehem Carol sheet to now overseeing the public face of Embrace at events all over the country. This means you are likely to bump into me if you attend the summer festivals or any of the numerous leadership conferences or Christian festivals going on throughout the year. Ultimately this means I spend little time at my desk over the events season, which seems to get longer every year! If you see us at an event, please do come and introduce yourself, we love to say ‘Hi’.

Major Donor Fundraiser: Mike Dangerfield

I was recruited as part of the drive to increase Embrace’s income so that we can help our partners support more people over a wider area in the Middle East.

Embrace is looking for the support of those who are able to make donations of £5000 or more to help us achieve this aim. If you would be interested in making a donation to Embrace at this level - either towards our general funds or to support a specific project - please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Legacy Manager: Charlotte Devereux

I’m responsible for explaining and promoting Legacy giving to our supporters, and for dealing with the administrative side of legacy pledges and gifts.

I aim to convey my excitement about what has been achieved through projects funded from legacies, and about the enormous potential for the future. I want to break down the barriers (of language and awkwardness) around talk of wills and legacies, and to inspire people to see how they can make a difference that outlives themselves, by equipping Embrace & our partners to have a positive and lasting impact on Middle Eastern communities.

Individual Giving and Communications Manager: Heather Stanley

I make sure our amazing supporters are updated with stories, news, information about our partners and the people they serve, and give them ways for them to get involved with our work. I'm also working on bringing together our print and digital communications to include better, easier ways for our supporters to raise funds, shop with us and donate. I volunteered for Embrace for 2 years before joining the staff team. Outside of Embrace I'm a Brownie Guider, help fun my local foodbank and am a keen photographer.

If you have any stories to share please get in touch!
