Embrace had over 160 years’ experience of responding to humanitarian needs and upholding the Christian presence in the Middle East.

The world has changed a lot over those long decades, but one thing remains constant – our partners’ faith in God’s transformational love. It’s a source of strength and inspiration for them to know that people across the world are praying for them as they face the challenges of life amid conflict, poverty and injustice.

Your prayers are more important than ever in these difficult times and the new format enables us to give you more detail and more creative prayer ideas.

Our Prayer Diary is issued twice a year and includes one prayer prompt for each week. You can use them in your church services, in prayer groups, or during private prayer.

If you have let us know that you'd like to get your Prayer Diary in the post, you should have received the latest edition in June. You can also let us know if you do not already receive the Prayer Diary and would like to.

Please let us know if you would like to receive extra copies to share with your friends and church.

You are welcome to reproduce the prayers in your church newsletter; we would love you to encourage others to pray for the Middle East’s Christians and the people they serve.

Urgent prayer requests:

Our partners are asking for prayers for the worsening situation in Lebanon with the protests against the government, many roads being closed and people concerned for safety, but ultimately that the church would be a beacon of light to a world seeking answers.

A prayer for the Middle East | Embraceme.orgA prayer for the Middle East:

Heavenly Father,
when we see devastating images of war
and hear the inconsolable cries of those
who have lost homes, livelihoods
and loved ones,
our hearts break.
In the face of so much
suffering and despair,
come Lord Jesus and help me
to see with your eyes,
hear with your ears,
think with your mind,
speak with your lips,
walk with your feet,
love with your heart,
so that I can reach out
with your hands and
be a futuremaker
to my brothers and sisters
in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon,
Egypt and Syria.
Raise up leaders in the Middle East
who will turn from violence and seek
your ways of peace that they may
act justly, love mercy
and walk humbly with you,
our God.
We pray this
in Jesus’ name,

Prayer for refugees

God of compassion
whose own son experienced life as a refugee,
we remember those fleeing from danger,
hungry and afraid, with nowhere to call home.
God, give them warmth, security, food and peace.
God of hope,
we thank you for those who are working to bring relief and
comfort to those displaced,
showing glimpses of grace in the darkness of despair.
God, give them strength.
God of justice,
Guide the nations and the leaders of the world towards peace.
Stir hearts to be generous and compassionate.
God, help us to play our part in bringing about the change
we want to see.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord
