Prayer is at the heart of Embrace's support of our Christian partners in the Middle East.

Embrace had over 160 years’ experience of responding to humanitarian needs and upholding the Christian presence in the Middle East.

The world has changed a lot over those long decades, but one thing remains constant – our partners’ faith in God’s transformational love. It’s a source of strength and inspiration for them to know that people across the world are praying for them as they face the challenges of life amid conflict, poverty and injustice.

Our new style Prayer Diary will replace the cut-out and keep diary from your Embrace magazine.

Your prayers are more important than ever in these difficult times and the new format enables us to give you more detail and more creative prayer ideas.

If you are already on our mailing list and would usually get our magazine, you will receive your Prayer Diary for February – July 2018 in mid-January.

This will be the last time the Prayer Diary is sent out automatically and if you would like to keep receiving the Diary you need to let us know.

You can also let us know if do not already receive the Prayer Diary and would like to from now on.

How to let us know:

  • Complete the form that came with your Prayer Diary and return it to us in the freepost envelope
  • Let us know via our online Prayer Diary form here:

A prayer for the Middle East:

Heavenly Father,
when we see devastating images of war
and hear the inconsolable cries of those
who have lost homes, livelihoods
and loved ones,
our hearts break.
In the face of so much
suffering and despair,
come Lord Jesus and help me
to see with your eyes,
hear with your ears,
think with your mind,
speak with your lips,
walk with your feet,
love with your heart,
so that I can reach out
with your hands and
be a futuremaker
to my brothers and sisters
in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon,
Egypt and Syria.
Raise up leaders in the Middle East
who will turn from violence and seek
your ways of peace that they may
act justly, love mercy
and walk humbly with you,
our God.
We pray this
in Jesus’ name,

Prayer for refugees

God of compassion
whose own son experienced life as a refugee,
we remember those fleeing from danger,
hungry and afraid, with nowhere to call home.
God, give them warmth, security, food and peace.
God of hope,
we thank you for those who are working to bring relief and
comfort to those displaced,
showing glimpses of grace in the darkness of despair.
God, give them strength.
God of justice,
Guide the nations and the leaders of the world towards peace.
Stir hearts to be generous and compassionate.
God, help us to play our part in bringing about the change
we want to see.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord
