In memory

Losing someone you love is painful and difficult, and it can be hard to know where to turn for comfort and help with your grief.

At times like this, some people find creating and contributing to a Memorial Tribute helpful as a way of remembering and celebrating that special person, by continuing to support projects they were passionate about, as well as having a space for memories, photos and personal tributes.

By inviting your family and friends to share on this memorial space too, stories and memories can be retold, which we pray will bring you lasting comfort.

In order to offer Memorial Tributes to our supporters, we have linked up with MuchLoved, an online tribute charity that helps you remember and commemorate your loved one in a special way.

We understand that setting up a Memorial Tribute is an intensely personal decision and of course the timing may not be right at the moment – please do come back whenever you feel ready.

Jenn’s story

Jenn’s husband, Arthur, had a lifelong interest in model trains and had built up a fantastic collection. Following Arthur’s death, Jenn decided to sell the models to keen enthusiasts and send the money to Embrace, in memory of her husband. The money raised was used to fund equipment that enables blind students at a special education school in Lebanon to use computers by touch.

Jenn was delighted with the way that the money was used; she visited Lebanon and saw the machine for herself, telling us: ‘It seemed so appropriate to my family and me that money raised in his memory should go to Embrace. It helps so much to know that the money has been so well spent.’

Ben's story

Sadly, Jenn herself passed away in June 2016. Ben Walker wanted to do something in memory of his mum, Jenn, and raise money for ‘her charity’.

So, in summer 2017, he was one of five cycling enthusiasts and Embrace supporters who took part in Ride London – a 100 mile cycle race through the closed roads of London and on to Surrey’s stunning country roads and hills.

Ben says: ‘Mum had a strong faith, touched many people throughout her life and believed in practical, social good works. ‘She supported charities throughout her life including the sponsorship of children in the Middle East through Embrace. She even visited the region and saw the difference her generous contributions made – which included building houses in Egypt and a braille machine in Lebanon.’

All gifts given to Embrace the Middle East in memory of a loved one make a significant and lasting difference in the lives of people and communities throughout this beautiful yet troubled region.

We are grateful for everyone who chooses to give in memory, no matter how big or small the gift. And we are glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the life of your loved one with you.
